Spousal Sponsorship - Document checklist updated (February 2019)

Hi all,

I've been filling out forms to bring my spouse to Canada. When I thought I almost finished the documentation work, I came across the following update.

Updated Checklist:
Proof of Contact: Provide letters, printed text messages, emails or social media conversations, or other documented proof of
contact between you and your sponsor. Provide a maximum of 10 pages with your application. You must provide certified
translations in either English or French of all proof of contact documents that are not already in English or French.

Old Checklist:
Proof of Contact: Provide letters, printed text messages, emails or social media conversations, or other documented proof of
contact between you and your sponsor. Provide a maximum of 10 pages with your application.Translations of these
documents are not required at this time. If we need translations, we will request them from you.

Does anybody know how to get certified translations? I basically took some screenshots of our chat from whatsapp, messenger, etc. Now this is getting much more complicated. We basically used our local language to communicate, but written in English.

Any advice is highly appreciated.

Look up certified translators on google in your area. There are plenty to choose from in the GTA. We found one who charges 55$ per page translated.

Hi,

My wife got it done through a certified translator in India. The fee was nominal, and the translated copies were also notarized. I sent my application package to CIC around last week of April, and I received an AOR and biometric request recently. Hope this helps you.

Thank you Shyam for your update. I got the quote from these guys www.taontario.ca located in Toronto, for 10 pages to translate from Telugu to English they gave me a quote for $779.90. I was thinking Is that legal and allowed to get it done by translator in India and send those documents back to me to Canada then I can send those with my file.

Thank you Shyam for your update. I got the quote from these guys www.taontario.ca located in Toronto, for 10 pages to translate from Telugu to English they gave me a quote for $779.90. That's so expensive. Well, my application would've been returned if weren't happy with the translated documents. Instead, they accepted my application and sent my AOR last week. So I guess getting it translated in India should be fine, provided it is done by a certified translator and notarized.
