Dear members
I hope you can help. I am slightly confused on what documents I need to provide.
The situation = My wife, a Canadian citizen from birth is sponsoring me under the spousal sponsorship for permanent residency in Canada. I am British and we both live in Oman. We were married in Quebec and intend to live in Quebec once I am granted residency. As per the instructions I need to follow the guide for my region (Oman, IMM 3911).
The guide says.......
•Send originals of the immigration forms (item 1) and original police certificates.
•Send notarized photocopies of all other documents, unless instructed otherwise. Retypedcopies are not acceptable.
•If your documents are not in English or French, send a notarized translation with a copy ofthe originals. These must be done by an official translator. You cannot translate your owndocuments.
•Check that each form is complete and signed, where applicable. Once completed, send theforms to your sponsor with all your supporting documentation.
If any of the documents listed below are missing, your application will be returned
The documents its says i need notarized copies for are my birth certificate and marriage certificate (passport, its says copies are fine)
Questions - (and apologies if this is obvious)
1) Do I need to notarize both of our birth certificates or just mine. My wife was born in Canada so the way i read it is I don't need to send hers as well? are the documents that this guide wants me to send only ones that relate to me?
2) Do I need to notarize our marriage certificate? We were officially married in Quebec therefore the certificate is of Canadian origin and don't see why i need a notarized copy?
One final question regarding the guide.
3) The guide states that i need to fill in the supplementary information but there is also another form in the guide called.....
RESIDENCY QUESTIONNAIRE
CANADIAN HIGH COMMISSION
ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN
This form must be completed by the principle applicant. If the principle applicant is a minor
child, the sponsor may complete this form.
Now I know this may be a stupid question but is this only for those living in Pakistan (as i would assume by the title) but this form is not referred to any where in the guide as to who fills it in apart from saying this form must be completed by the principle applicant, which is me, but i have nothing to do with Pakistan??
Many thanks to everyone for their help.
