Hello,

My wife is applying for PhD program under "Electrical and computer engineering" topic in Canadian Universities from India. We have a minor child (age is below 1 year).

1. Can I apply for open work permit at the same time when my wife applies for student permit VISA from India?
2. Or should I apply visitor visa first then after entering to port I have to apply for open work permit?
3. Or what type of VISA should I apply if I want work in Canada.

Thanks,
Tushar

There are a million and one threads about spousal open work permits here. There was no need to start another thread. Post your question in one of the others AFTER reading through to ensure your question hasn't already been answered.

I don't see why people must be rude in regards to you asking a question like this, regardless of how many times a topic has been submitted. Sometimes it is overwhelming when it comes to any immigration process and we over look things and that's okay. I personally applied for permanent residency AND an open work permit at the same time. I know you are allow to apply to more than one thing at a time to get the ball rolling. If you are coming from a country that requires a visitor visa, I would make sure you get that done right away but I don't think it would hurt to also request a work permit at the same time! Good luck!

It is specifically because of the overwhelming nature of the immigration process that duplicating posts should be avoided. It makes it difficult for persons to actually find information because they have to sift through all the bulk. Lets see if you feel the same way after you've been on here a little longer.
