Spousal application

Say I've been on welfare in the past, but am not on it currently and want to apply to sponsor a spouse, is that a possibility? Or does the fact that i've been on it before come up as a red flag when my application is being processed?

If you are no longer in receipt of welfare, you can apply to sponsor.
