Hi,
I`m vijay from vegreville, Alberta. working as a cook as NOC B from September 20, 2012 with the same employer till now. Recently i have bee updated my work permit it is vallied till October 2014. my nationality Indian. I need some information regarding open work permit to my wife. I have applied temporary visitors visa to my wife on april 2011, in India it is got rejected so i have been waited to update my work permit it is done now.

1.Is there any possibility to apply open work permit to wife inland in Canada while my wife is still in India. If applying in India is there chances to get open work permit to my wife.

2.Before applying open work permit to my wife do i have to update my temporary resident visa because my current TRV expired.

3.Is there any chances to apply my TRV along with my wife open work permit either in inland or in the home country.

1. Applying Open work permit for spouse alone in India may be a complicated case , Instead apply for TRV as dependant.
2. You don't need to have TRV for processing spouse visa in india , You should have valid WP for at least next 3 to 4 months.

One thing i suggest is you can get your spouse in Canada on TRV as dependant and After few months you can apply for Open work permit.

Hi thanks for reply, i have been tried TRV in April 2012 but it has been got rejected for few reasons, that's why i want to find alternative.

No. If your wife is in India, she must apply for a work permit through ND. If she comes to Canada, she can apply inland (CPC-V).

No, you only need a TRV to travel to Canada. With a work permit, you shouldn't need one. Thus she shouldn't need a copy of your TRV in order to get her own documents.

I think you can apply for an extension through NVDO, but you'd be much better off doing it through Ottawa (CPP-O). I'm not sure why there's a benefit to submitting them together.

You don't mention (in your follow-up post) why your wife's TRV was rejected. You will have to resolve whatever the objection was, because she won't be able to get an OWP (and TRV) without resolving those concerns.

1. Travel history
2. family ties in Canada and in your country of residence
3. Purpose of visit
4. Your personal assets and financial status


and by that time my work permit was valid for only 5 months at the time of apply.

Try re applying TRV for your wife with the following data.

1. Letter from you , stating work permit details and you would like to invite your wife to Canada.
2. Your bank statement for last 6 months,this will support your invitation letter
3. Proof of income tax paid in Canada, if you have this include this will support your invitation letter

4. Last 6 months bank statement of your wife , if she have
5. Copy of any property documents/bank deposits in her name ,documents should be in English, if she have

Basically you have show that your financial situation can afford your wife here , as well as she has strong backup in home country.

Hi everybody, thanks for your reply. Today i meet my Attorney he is suggesting me to apply on open work permit little confused in this situation. he is explaining me that i`m in NOC B class and having 2 years valid work permit so he is asking me to proceed on open work permit for my spouse. pleas give me suggestions..........

UR attorney is right. With NOC Code B, ur wife can get an Open work permit. But make sure to include a cover letter from ur Employer requesting to issue Open work permit for ur wife. It helps a lot. New Delhi Processing time is very fast. within 30 days they are issuing TWP. So I guess you will not have nay prob in getting the visa for ur wife.

I hope you have ordered your GCSM notes. Your husband can order them for you in Canada for $5. They are emailed so he can easily share them iwth you. I am really sorry for your refusals and hope the notes will help you in the future.

I am still in India and have applied for OWP along with my daughter's TRV. My husband is in Newfoundland and Labrador working as a Lecturer (NOC B). We have submitted his bank statement and mine along with his pay slips, 2 years contract, LMO,Closed Work permit, agriculture land, rental income, jewelry and other property documents that we own. It has been complete two weeks now and no update so far.
