I'm applying to sponsor my spouse while living abroad so the date when I plan to return to Canada to resume residency is unknown because I don't know when we will be allowed to go. What date do I put? or do I write Unknown next to box or some other thing?

Really, Cusin? Did you adduce no other proof of intent to reside in Canada than that? And did you get the visa?

I was told that this would be a major question mark for CIC, because I have been out of Canada for about 6 years. So, I arranged a lease about the time we hope to get a visa.

one question on this topic -

my mother owns her own business - would it be helpful if she wrote that I will have a job with her once the PR is approved? that's the closest I can get to a "job offer" over a year before the actual day I will be home!

what do you guys think? thanks

Trying to put myself in the shoes of a Visa Officer, I'd say that any job offer is better than no offer.

This raises a question, though: does CIC check to see that you told the truth about a job offer and a place to stay? Will they check up later?

Hi

Sponsor in our case was approved and we only included a letter from parents to say we would be living with them. No job lined up although there is now... if only London would move it along!

All you need to show are reasonable plans to re-establish in Canada.

PS. We also included GBP savings although its not that much.

I haven't "heard" of them doing this but the point is that they CAN check/try to verify anything you send them.

There seems to be two topics coinciding here. One is 'the date' of the plan of return and the other is the proof being able to re-establish themselves. I'm wondering if it's ok to write next to 'the box' that the planned date of return is when my husband receives PR. From what I understand, the decision could take from 2 months up to 1 year so how can I get a definitive 'job offer'? The only job offer I have is one to be a nanny and by the time they grant him PR the kids might be in University.... .
