Hello,

I am a PR who is currently engaged to a Polish citizen. We've been in a relationship for two years and she's currently in Canada right now on a Visitor visa expiring July 31.

She landed in Canada in February and we got engaged around June - so now we're looking into how we should go about marrying and sponsorship so that we get everything right.

Here's the plan I want to run by you:

1) She applied to extend her visitor visa on July 1. She wrote down in the form that she wanted to spend more time with her fiancé in Canada. She attached to her application a letter from me saying I will help her financially (added proof of employment + savings + investments). She's asked to extend her stay until end of October.

2) We will get married and submit her PR application and OWP altogether while she's still a visitor. I understand that, due to the OWP request, she'll be granted implied status until her OWP comes out.

What I want to hear from you is:

1) Is this the best plan? It seems to me that this is the only option even though it's risky as I find unlikely they will grant her an extension because she's visited Canada a few times before and she's been in Canada now for almost 6 months.

2) Is she granted 'implied status' as soon as she submits her OWP application? I am afraid that, if we have to wait some time, her visitor status might expire.

3) Has anyone been in a situation like this before? If so, any tip on what to do/not to do?

Thanks,

Hi

1. Plan is fine. There should be no issues with the extension.

2. If she applies for the OWP while she still has valid visitor status, she will be on Implied Status after her visitor status expires.
