I live in London with my partner and I am Italian.
My partner is Canadian and she have a Canadian passport that unfortunately expired few months ago and she is about to apply for a new one.
Can we send the application even if her passport is expired and while the application is in process she will get the passport or she need to get first the new passport and then we should send the all application to Canada ?

Thank you

I would wait for her new passport and send it all together.

might cause some delay for sponsor approval if you do not send her photocopy of passport together.

hope it helps

But is not mentioned that we need to send our copy of the passport for the application. Why should we send it ? The passport is needed only for travel. They can easy see on the system if she is Canadian or not.

a copy of the passport for both the sponsor and applicant are required documents. the sponsor's passport is a required "identity document". unless you are supplying another approved identity document listed on the checklist, then you need to update the passport before sending the application. the sponsor's application is processed first, and if it's not complete then it will be returned or rejected. there will be no reason to send a copy of the sponsor's passport to CIC after the sponsor has already been approved. at that point, all they care about is the applicant's application.

if you really can't wait to submit the application, then you can send a copy of the expired passport along with a letter suggesting you are currently getting it renewed. i am not sure if they will accept that and continue processing or if they would just wait until a new one is issued before processing. so really it's your choice as to update it now and just deal with the time it takes to renew it or send in your app now and see what happens. personally, i'd get it updated first.

As I stated in your other thread, provided she has other acceptable proof of Canadian citizenship, the passport is not required.

The sponsor's passport is NOT a required document. It is one of several options that a sponsor can submit for proof of status. There have been many sponsors who had never had a passport when they sponsored their spouses.

So we can send the application with her citizenship card ?is a proof that she is Canadian born in Montreal.
I have also read that I need to provide my finger print.. is that true and where I can get this done officially in London ?
Do you also know where I can go to have my documentation translated in London ?

Thank you
