Hi , I am a father of two …me, my wife+our youngsters are willing to apply for visitor visa this Dec..probably making our trip during Easter holidays. Checking the list of documents needed a doubt hit me up regarding sponsorship from friend/family/relative vs hotel booking. Just musing that 20000 CAD as bank balance+ regular job would be enough for us(4) to demonstrate our capability for sustaining a family foreign trip for 8 days or sponsorship from a friend will better help optimizing our chances of securing visitor visa. How do you think VO will take this case

Your friend isn’t your sponsor. He can write a letter of invitation and say you will have a place to stay. However, you still need to show that you can afford your visit. Don’t know where you live but processing times can be very long.

Mmm processing time currently is approx. 50 days in country i m residing + does invitation letter implicate any responsibility/expense for him ? I don’t want to bother him as i can well pay for my hotel stay, just wondering how hotel booking vs invitation letter make difference in your application . If with latter your chances are augmented or viceversa.

Have you done biometrics? If not processing will be longer. No an invitation letter doesn’t give responsibility to your friend. If family member, it shows that you are going to reunite with family. For a friend, it shows you are visiting and the friend may act as host/tour guide etc.

You and your wife will likely need to be vaccinated with Pfizer, moderna, AZ or J&J to travel to Canada. Your trip will also have to be at a minimum 15 days.

Pfizer +Moderna , all have EU vaccine passport to travel(recently recognized by Canada also) , mmm have some doubts concerning duration of trip …15 days minimum of absence from work is a bit lengthy for me, though my employer is a reasonable guy but still he can’t let me away for more than max. 8-10 days. My friend who got visa during Covid emergency last year(mid -May) told me having an invitation letter from a friend in Canada will be much preferred by VO when considering financial perimeter of my trip due to my low bank balance (though my current employment+salary is attractive than the previous one $2900CAD/monthly) still languished with about which way to take.
