Dear Friends,

This is such a wonderful forum to exchange information, and some of the people are really so good and helpful here!! I wanna thank the admin for hostin and all the contributors for such a great forum!!

I have a question concerning my case, my canadian PR was approved recently and i have time until May next year to arrive in Canada.
At the moment i live in Germany and work as a Physician & Researcher, i am actually planning to move to Canada next year and im in the process of finding a postdoc position. I plan to get married in Jan/Feb 2012..my question to the fellow members here is...can i add my Fiancee to my approved application as a dependent before i land in Canada?? or should i need to sponsor her only after i land in Canada and find a job?? Inputs from any of you, who had such experiences are highly appreciated!!

Thank you for your time in reading my post!!
Good luck with your endeavors!!

Any changes to your family composition must be communicated to CIC before landing. Yes, you may declare your relationship with her and ask CIC to add her to your application. Tell them you are getting married and wish to include her as your wife, and do it BEFORE you land.

If you marry her now and then land and she is not declared and examined, you may NOT sponsor her. She would fall within the purview of Section 117 (9)(d) and you would never be able to sponsor her.

Advise CIC of your plans immediately, fill out any forms they direct you to, provide the information requested, and wait for her to be issued a visa. That way, you can land together, or she can follow after.

If you marry her before you land, you have to inform CIC and the Canadian embassy that processed your PR application that your family composition has changed. They will revoke your PR and add your wife to your application. This will delay things as they have to reprocess.
If you get married before you land, but don't tell CIC about it, the border official when you land will ask you if your circumstances have changed. You must tell them yes, you have gotten married. If you don't tell them, later when you try to sponsor your wife her PR application will be refused.
You could land first, then get married and sponsor her. This will take longer than just adding her to your application, though.
