Hello everyone! I'll just give you guys the time lines of my application first and ask my question at the end.

I sent me and my wife's application on March 7, and it was received on March 8. I was informed by email on April 2nd that the CIC received our application on March 8. Once I knew my UCI and application number from that first email I did my first check of our application status online, both saying "in process".

Clicking on my part of the application it showed 3 lines. The first two lines were the two things I said previously about receiving the application and the correspondence from it. The third line says "We started processing your application on April 1, 2016"

After about a month on June 1st, I received another email from the CIC (I'm also my wifes representative) basically saying "We started processing (wifes name here) application on April 20, 2016". So I then checked my wifes application status online which also had 3 lines. First two lines were when they received and started processing her application. The third line simply said "Medical results have been received"

Its now July 10 and I did not get a letter stating that I have been approved as a sponsor and as of today it still says online "In process" for my sponsorship approval. so its been about 4 months since they received our application. I found it odd that on April 1st my application begun to be processed and only 19 days after on April 20th my wifes application was already in Manila to start processing.

So my question is - is this normal? has anyone else not received a letter of their sponsorship approval? I've been lead to believe they wouldn't send the application to Manila if I was not approved - which does make sense. I tried calling the CIC but I didn't get to talk to any agents and only kept getting automated messages about status updates online.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much.

You may or may not ever recieve notification of your sa approval. That your spouse's application is being processed indicates you have been approved. If you wait in line calling cic that is what you will be told. You may have your spouse in Canada and your sponsor side will still say in process.

Thank you for your reply @Sous02. Can anyone else chip in? I just want to hear everyone opinion

If I may ask one two more questions I meant to ask.

1. If anything in the application is missing, when would they usually contact you?
2. If it does get approved, how do they contact you? is it an email or an call? Sounds like the online status updates are not very dependable.

Also any more other thoughts from everyone would be great!!!

Pick one of the threads like March or April and you will see lots of great answers.

Just call the help line and ask if you have SA. Call in the morning or early afternoon for best results. You have to keep calling till you get someone.

It could be a couple reasons.

1) ECAS just hasn't updated, and/or the officer forgot to send the SA acknowledgement. That's been known to happen.

2) Your sponsor app is being processed at the same time as your wife's app for some reason. Maybe there was something delaying the SA so they decided to complete the processing simultaneously.
