Applied for sponsorship for my US husband. He is visiting me in Canada while the sponsorship paperwork is being processed. Can my husband be granted a temporary work permit without a job offer while his sponsorship papers are being processed? I have seen on this website saying that:

19. Can a Sponsored person work or study in Canada if their application is being processed in Canada?

While waiting for their Canada Immigration Visas, Sponsored persons are allowed to work or study in Canada only after the Sponsorship Application has been approved in principle by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. They will then be granted an Open Work Permit or a Study Permit.

Of course, if the Sponsored person was already in Canada on a valid Work Permit or Study Permit, they may continue to work or study as the case may be.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Long answer: If you applied inland, you can apply for his open work permit when he gets his first stage approval. If you applied outland, he will probably have his PR by the time he would have gotten first stage approval with inland.

I applied to sponsor my daughter 15 months old. CPC vegerville, albert sent me a letter stating

1. need notorised letter from her dad that allowed to come into canada.
2. medicals.
3. to complete sponsorship evaluation imm5481 and return it to our office - which i had completed originally
4. An original letter fromemployer. [i am currently not working due to economic downturn]

Any idea how long it will take? after medicals.
