Sponsor's residency requirement

Hi, I currently reside in Canada and am a citizen. I’m going to (outland) sponsor my wife soon, but also plan to work in the US in the near future for a couple of years, before returning to Canada. I was wondering if there were any residency requirements for me (the sponsor) after her PR is processed (i.e. can I leave the country for extended periods of time after the PR is processed)?

There's no residency requirement since you are a citizen. However as part of your application, you must include evidence that you plan to relocate to Canada and live here as soon as your spouse's PR visa is approved.

Thanks for replying. I live in Canada and plan to live here until at least the PR has been approved. I just wanted to confirm whether I could pursue career opportunities outside of Canada after the PR has been approved.
