Dear all,

I am on PR card status but am right now working outside Canada. I am planing to move to Canada with my wife. My question is, can I sponsor her application from outside Canada while myself being on PR card status. Any advice would be really appriciated.

No, only Canadian citizens can sponsor when living outside Canada

Thanks GK for your reply. In that case, I plan to apply for visit visa for my wife so that we can go together. And then once in Canada, I can apply for her. Can I do it like that. Please advise.

It may be difficult. As your wife's intention is to remain permanently in Canada there is a high risk of her visitor visa being refused. Now I am not an expert in this, this is what I have understood from reading other posts on this forum.

GK and all other friends, can anybody please suggest what approach should I take to expedite my wife's paper's. She is in India now and will be probably applying from Delhi. I am working in Saudi Arabia, and she will join me soon here. if I apply to the Canadian embassy here, will it help. Any other advise.

As the other posters stated, you cannot sponsor her until you return to Canada.

Hi everybody,

From what I have gathered from reading the forum walls, if I go to Canada and file her sponsorship papers and then try for a visit visa, there are good chances that it might be accepted. Right!! any advice on that......

Thanks,
Shahid
