Hi All:

I am a Canadian citizen (born in Pakistan) and married to my wife (Moroccan born and citizen of Morocco) since May 2011. My first application to sponsor my wife was refused and I withdrew the application for full-hearing after the ADR. Than I tried to settle in Morocco but difficult to find work there, and came back to Canada and re-submitted the application for sponsorship and waiting to be able to start my life, I hope for the best this time, its way too difficult and traumatic for both of us to live apart.

Here are my timelines:

Timeline for 1st sponsorship Application:

Application sent to Mississauga: June 2011
Application Transferred to Rabat: September 2011
e-CAS status changed to "Medical Results have been received": January 2012
Interview: March 2012 (Refusal letter received via email next day)
Appealed: March 2012
ADR Hearing: September 2012 (Refused and proceeded to full hearing in November 2012, but I withdrew the application in October for full hearing)

Timeline for second sponsorship application:
Application sent to Mississauga: June 2013
Application Transferred to Rabat: July 2013

In the first week of August 2013, requested for copy of Marriage Certificate and translation from Rabat even though it was submitted with the application along with the certified translation when the application was sent to Mississauga

e-CAS status changed to "Medical Results have been received": Late August 2013

Please share your experience or comments, thanks.

Please read this thread for tons and tons of peoples experiences with sponsoring a spouse from Morocco and join us here:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/sponsoring-husband-from-morocco-t4646.6360.html

I applied in May 2013 and Rabat received our application mid June 2013. My ecas went to "medical results received" in mid July 2013. They told me that our application is currently waiting for an interview date.
May I ask why they refused your first application?
inshaAllah you'll be approved this time.

Good luck

Thanks for the link.

They think that I and my wife married very quickly after knowing each other for 3 months, I explained to them that 3 months is not a short period of time even if I compare that to Pakistani culture where I am originally fromwhere people get married in just 1 day even without knowing, plus the interviewer in Rabat said that we only talk for 2-3 minutes even though I provided the documents that we talk at least for 1 hr minimum everyday, I proved that at the ADR but Alhamdulillah, everything is in the hands of Allah Subhanahu wa ta ala, I hope this time they will give insha Allah.

When is your interview? If you would like I can send you the list of questions they asked my wife in Rabat and they asked me in ADR.

You think they would know being in a Muslim country that as Muslims, it's very well known to marry sooner than later. That must have been a difficult time for you two but it's good to see you have your trust in Allah. He will help you and has promised you that after hardship comes ease. They haven't given us an exact date for the interview yet.. we just know it's coming soon. Maybe within the next month inshaAllah. A sister on the moroccan thread said she got called for an interview this morning for next week. Her application reached Rabat May 2013.

oohh that would be great! I'm sure it help so many of us with upcoming interviews. We would all really appreciate it if you could share the list of questions at her interview. Please post them on the link I gave you or here. That would be a great help.

May Allah bless you and your wife brother. Ameen.

I know right? I wouldn't take a chance that they would/should know these things. There's more riding on it for us than them. I'm thankful for this forum because I wouldn't have thought to explain certain things.

We are going to have a lawyer for the process and are ready to hand over the application package but I wanted to find out from more experienced people and those further along the process if they have advice/pointers for me. Here's our profile:

I'm 30, hubby is 36. We come from the same country and village. Speak English, French and same local dialect. He has lived/studied in Europe but currently back home. Visa office will be Dakar, Senegal.

We met last December, he proposed in January, we married in September. Very normal in my culture for a man to ask to marry you in a very short time. I've explained this and the cultural aspect - man and his family do background investigation on woman and her family and woman's family does same to check for red flags, if they are compatible, whether divorce is common in the family, etc. Things proceed to marriage only if the outcome is favorable. A traditional ceremony(consisting of two rites) was done before our civil wedding. This was our formal engagement ceremony, both families were introduced, etc. We had about 150 - 200 guests... basically family, friends, anyone that could make it was there. My Dad oversaw all these, received my dowry, etc so he has written a very nice narrative of the rites and what was done, given, their significance, etc.

We did not do a religious celebration for 3 reasons: a) hubby is catholic, I'm protestant... we haven't decided yet which denomination we would converge under but discussing it. b) time constraints(had just 5 weeks vacation) and c) we want a bigger ceremony, so need time to plan and save up for it. I've explained all these - do you think it will be a problem?

For evidence, here's what we have:

1. photos of wedding, reception, traditional rites - about 129 photos total. In our culture, the traditional rites are most important and something was taking place in each of the photos, so want to explain/illustrate it. Are these too many?

2. photos of hubby and I on dates, with family(his and mine), travelling, etc.

3. receipts of reception venue, food, my wedding dress, wedding rings.

4. boarding passes of my trip last December and again this year.

5. copies of letters, cards, gifts certificates from family, friends, my co-workers addressed to both of us - do we need to explain why we aren't giving them the original?

6. copies of comments from our wedding guest book

7. our wedding was videotaped, so I've transcribed excerpts of speeches given by my Dad, brother-in-law, hubby, my God-mother, hubby's cousin-in-law, myself.

8. emails, text msgs, phone call logs, facebook chat of our communication.

9. emails between friends and I - to show they know about our relationship.

10. screen shot of our facebook profile pics with comments congratulating us on our wedding and of when we became facebook friends.

11. copy of change of status with Revenue Canada

12. I have not yet change my beneficiaries for my insurance, etc at work - should I do that and include a copy?

13. original copy of our marriage publication

14. copy of family booklet with our names and parents' names.

15. copy of marriage certificate

Is there anything you think I should include or be aware of? Any red flags you see that I need to address? Gosh, this process is crazy!

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi:

I would see why the proposal took place in just a month as a red flag, in my case as well they asked that many times even though I proposed her after three months, during that time we left our skype open all almost all day and talk and even at work I talked to her and work so I can know more about her before marriage, in 3 months, but you have one more positive point that the marriage actually took place after 9 months of proposal, so I would recommend to include the following as well:

- Airline tickets and exit/entry stamps for all trips he made to visit you including last December
- How long did he stayed there with you? pictures, etc, train tickets
- Call logs from last December and onward (make sure it last long 60-120 minutes, I use a free calling software to call my wife for free as its way too expensive to call Morocco, but needs internet on the other side, If you need help in that, let me know)
-Development of your relationship, like whats common in both of you, etc.
-e-cards like from 123 greetings
-Western Union slips for any financial support
-Gift receipts
-Jewellery Receipts
-Pictures at home during normal daily routine
-pictures with family

Thanks

Thank you for your input. I hear you...oh well, I'm not gonna stress over it. Can you help me with the free calling software? You can PM me if you prefer. Our phone bills are so expensive, if we can still communicate on the cheap, even better.

hahaha yea exactly! it's soo common all over the world in cultural/religious countries to receive a fast proposal and marry fast. I guess nowadays, it's more like you talk/date for 2-5 years, maybe live together at some point just as gf/bf.. then finally get engaged but remain engaged for another 1-3 years and then FINALLY marry each other haha. Funny how this used to be unheard of but it's the total norm now and almost expected.

Your case sounds very strong! As mentioned, the quick proposal might be a red flag in their eyes... but it's a huge plus that you had massive engagement ceremony with that many guests and both families there. This will outweigh it. They seem to care a lot about the amount of guests attend the celebrations. I guess it makes sense to them to see that its not something hidden from families and friends. I'm sure you will be fine as you have lots of evidence and no major flags. I say there's no such thing as too much evidence :p

Good luck and wish everybody all the best ;D

hi everyone,
i have read your story simple9999,and really it's sad that they refused visa for y wife FOR this reason, but don't lose hope and trust in allah ,if something destiny for you and y wife ,it will happend and no one will take it from you, always make duae ,i have know my husband also for short time 6month ,but for us 6month it was enough to know eachother, and we shoose to marry fastly because in islam and our culture it's not good to take a lot of time ,and it was a good decision that we made hamdolilah, you know sometimes when couples marry fastly it's better for them and their relation still longer ,it's depend in comprehension betwen them, my sister also she marry her husband and have know eachother for short time about 2or 3 month, and now hamdolilah they are living good after 5years from theire marriage and they have 2children ,so it's depend on the couple if there is true love and comprehension betwen them.
