I am a Canadian citizen and my Girl-Friend is a Indian citizen. I lived in India for a while where I met her and now for past 1 year I am working in Canada in a software firm while she is working in India. This long distance relationship so painful etc and I am planning to bring her legally and also planning to settle down ( Finally !!). Our families are planning for the big wedding next year in April 2012 and we can "live together" (traditionally, culturally)after this. Now the question I want to bring her with me after this marriage cermony. I thought there are few ways to do this

I will opt for Out-land application and

1) Go to India and do a register marriage (simple one), start the application process in Dec or
2) Bring her in a tempoaray or tourist Visa to Canada, get married (simple one) and start the application process or
3 Let the cermony finish, sponsor her and wait wait wait...

Can someone tell me which is good way to approach ? My main objective is to bring her to Canada coming May.

I heard from my friends that spouse sponsor is the fastest and it takes 2-3 months in total if paper works are submitted properly. But I have also seen that it takes 68 days then 6 months in 2 steps for the whole process to complete on Gov websites. If this is the case I would not try number as I have wait till next year until my Girl get here. Please advices...... wish they bring a rule to speed this spouse sponsor :(

Hi there,i think the best way is to get married first and then do the immigration thing.I submitted my app sept 7 and received an e-mail now 10 stating that i had met the requirements to sponsor.I think they need to believe it`t a genuine relationship. So collect your photos, plane tickets,letters...everything.Good luck.

Thanks for the quick response. When you say you met the requirement to sponsor it does not mean the whole things is completed right? You still have to wait some time so that things get done on her side to process. Is that correct ?

Yes,i believe the hardest part is that you need to qualify to sponsor . After that the application will then go to the immigration office in India for further processing.I took a look for India,it said 6 months. If her medical is good, police report is good it should be ok.If you plan to marry in april,i would order the application soon, that way you can take it with you. They want to know information about her family.Trust me,it`s easier to complete her end of it while your there. Also, order 3 sets, for mistakes.Any help i can give just ask. Start putting past photos ect together

Yes the best thing is get married and proceed to sponsor. Even if you go thru the set of application forms you will know the exact requirement so can act accordingly. They will ask you for engagement and wedding and honeymoon photos....a lot of proof they need to certain the relationship is genuine....i hav just gone thru all this and not waiting !
