Hello.
I am a Canadian citizen living in Toronto.
I want to sponsor my spouse (Chinese national) living in China.

I have a few questions I hope you can help me with. It will be greatly appreciated if anyone can help us out.

For police certificate, it is stated that an original of criminal record must be submitted along with a certified translation.

My wife got the police certificate and got the government office to notarize it and translate it in the white booklets.
The problem is that the notary office (government office) keeps originals.

To make things even more complicated in China you can only get your certificate from hometown.
Does she need to fly back and ask for a second certificate so we have an original to present or does the original notarized certificate suffice?

Thank you in advance for help.

Hi

Have a look at this thread http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/chinese-original-police-certificate-t101413.0.html

They were approved using only the notarized copy.

Thank you.

Another question if I may. I'm a newbie to this...

As proof of relationship we need to send pictures.
We stopped using cameras a long time ago. We only take pictures with iPhone.

Is it ok to collage the pictures into word document so we show about 4 photos in each letter size colour printout?
This can save cost, paper, mess and make it easier to follow the relationship.
Since iPhone pictures don't display date when printed, we plan to write below each picture the date.
Will this be ok or should we keep it traditional and send as photo size individually.

That's totally fine, we did the same. I imagine the VOs prefer it like that instead of loose individual pics, a lot easier to follow. We separated our pics chronologically by event. Titled each page, ie. "Thailand - Sept 2009" or "Christmas 2010", then put around 6-10 pics on each page. Some pics didn't need captions, like the whole page of us in Thailand, pretty self-explanatory :), but I captioned pics with other people and in different places, like "Us on Botanical Beach", "With friends John and Jane at Snowplanet", "Applicant with Sponsor's cousins", etc.
