Hi everyone:

I own a spa and I would like to hire an additional nail technician to work with me by next year. I am interested bring my sister over from the UK to work as a Nail Technician in my business as I want it all to be all family owned/operated. Can I bring my sister and her dependants over on a foreign worker visa to work for my business? I am thinking of hiring an immigration lawyer to help with the process, but thought I would start by posting on here for any insights or advice first.

Your input is appreciated.

;)

As a first step, you'll need to apply for a labour market opinion (LMO). Further details are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/employers/lmo-basics.asp#tphp idtphp

Once the LMO has been approved, your sister will then have to apply for a work permit.

I think you may find it challenging to pass the LMO step of the process since you have to prove that you were unable to find a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who is qualified for the job or who you could train to do the job.
