:) Hello
I would like to ask a few questions about sponsoring my wife to Canada? I live in Guadalajara mexico with my wife,we have been married legally for 3 months.I am a Canadian, and would like to sponsor her to my country.I am not working at this time, but can receive disability in B.C. and in Ontario, also i think i can also do some jobs as well.I am wondering how much money the canadian government will ask me to have before i can bring my wife to canada? Also i want to ask,if i sponsor her,is this a type of visa? will she be able to work in Canada as well? My wife is university educated, and also speaks english. Hope someone can help me with these questions
Most sincerely
Wayne

You can sponsor her for permanent resident. After she has been a PR for 3 years she can apply for Canadian citizenship.

You would use family class sponsorship, either inland (if she is in Canada) or outland (if she is in mexico).

Once approved for PR should would be able to work/study in Canada.

They dont really care if she speaks english or has a degree, they look at that for people who are applying for other types of visas. But for spousal sponsorship, they just want to see that you are really married and it's not a "marriage of convenience".

If you are a Canadian Citizen, then you will be able to sponsor without proof of income - however, you will have to show proof of intent to return to Canada to live once your wife attains PR status. This can include job offer / proof of interviews set up, accommodation arrangements (rental / ownership or letter of support from family or friends) etc.

The cost will be around $1500 including application fee, medicals, translation of documents, PR card fee, etc

If you a PR you also do not need to work to sponsor you wife. However, you should not be on any kind of social assistance (welfare) either , and of course, it looks better if you work/have business/income from investments.
