Sponsoring my sister who is a domestic violence victim

Hello, we are permanent residents of Canada, moderately settled and financially solvent. I have a family back home, aged parents and my sister. My sister is in a abusive relationship; her husband is a drug addict and a mentally derailed person. he tortures her in every possible ways, yet won't let her go. She tried to leave him and took legal measures against him. But nothing worked as they(the husband and his family) are very rich and our country has corrupt legal system. In this situation, I desperately want to bring her to Canada to save her from domestic violence. Is there a way I could sponsor my sister or she could claim refugee status or avail other option to come to Canada? Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks

Unfortunately you cannot sponsor your sister as long as your parents are alive. It's pretty unlikely she would qualify as a refugee because of domestic violence from a husband. Would she qualify under any of the economic streams?

The OP said "we" so I assume the OP is married. This automatically disqualifies the OP from using the "lonely Canadian" clause to sponsor the sister, even if the OP's parents were no longer living.

Thanks for your replies. Yes, I am married that makes me ineligible to sponsor my sibling here. I have been researching any alternate routes, haven't found any to be honest. But I came across some cases where a Canadian PR or Citizen can sponsor a refugee or asylum seeker to bring her/him to Canada and declare to take full responsibilities (financial, legal, social) of that person for 10-20 years. I couldn't find more information regarding that. I was wondering whether this could be applicable to our case or not.

@DollyM : I'm not aware of the economic streams? Could you please elaborate a little? She won't qualify in express entry skilled worker category. Very low score. And she can bring about 50,000 CAD in cash (plus our parents have property if that counts). I know that's not a lot. Should I contact an immigration lawyer? I feel miserable to sit idly and see my sister suffer like this.

You're talking about the Group of Five sponsorship stream. To qualify for this program, she first needs to be recognized as a refugee by UNHCR. She cannot do this from her home country. She needs to move out of her home county to another country and be recognized as a refugee there.

Oh okay. thanks for the reply. I looked up the category online. You are right, she needs to be recognized as a refugee first. The process seems really complicated. I guess I have no way to help out my own sister!!
