Hi, id like to pay for this application once and for all. I'm Canadian and my husband to be sponsored is American. Heres the thing.. im currently in the United States visiting him and would like to pay for this once and for all. Does it matter where I pay from?

What exactly do I "click" here.

I've selected "Immigration", "family Class" then

- Sponsorshp Application $75
- Principal Applicant $475
- Spouse, common-law conjugal partner $550
- Right of Permanent residence fee $490

What is Fee subject to transitional provision $550... does this apply to me? i'm 33 years old.

Once im done paying this, are there any more fees that need to be paid? Again, we are paying from the USA i'm hoping this doesnt matter.

- Sponsorshp Application $75 <------------------YOU
- Principal Applicant $475 <----------------------Your Sponsored Person
- Right of Permanent residence fee $490 <-----For Canada

You only pay $1040.

you are only paying the Sponsor fee, the principal applicant fee and the right of pr fee. you do NOT pay the spouse fee, as it does not apply to spousal sponsorship. that is for when 2 spouses are being sponsored TOGETHER by a 3rd person. also, the transitional fee does not apply either, i've never heard of it. i don't think it's related to spousal sponsorship.

no. except for fees for FBI record and medical.

The total is $1040:

$75- Sponsor fee
$475- Principal Applicant fee (he is PA and SCLCP combined, but you only pay the PA fee for him)
$490- RPRF (which can be paid at a later date, but may cause an added delay)

No idea about the transitional fee (never heard of it).

It doesn't matter where you pay the fees.

The only other expense will be the FBI check for him ($18, plus the cost of having his fingerprints taken by a local agency), which is currently taking ~12 weeks to receive and his medical examination, which can be conducted either in Canada (if he comes to `visit' you), or in the U.S., but it must be performed by a CIC approved panel physician. The cost varies greatly, so shop around! In Canada, the cost seems to be ~ $300 +/-

Good luck.

Oh...and you ARE submitting an Outland application, correct?

Is it a better option to get married after landing or before PR status is granted? Thanks

It depends. If there will be a name change after, I'd get married before you send it so if the applicant is changing their name then the new passport will be issued rather than changing it during. . Other than that it really doesn't matter except for the fact that you will have to have lived together for 12 months consecutively to qualify as common-law and the only other option really for family class is spousal. But also don't get married because you think it will speed up the process or make your case look better. If you folks have lived together for one year, you could do it now or say if you are already getting married in a few months, I'd wait until then. Just my opinion.
