Shared funds show you are in a relationship. They don't prove cohabitation.

My other concern is when it comes to her staying in the country while the paperwork is being processed. Does she file for a visitor extension and say that she is waiting to hear back about the sponsorship application. Or is this covered by applying for an open work permit?

Filing OWP gives her implied status but application can be returned if there is an error so make sure to extend visitor status until you receive AOR.

To clarify – AOR of the sponsorship acceptance or the fees were paid? and what would I include in the visitor extension as proof and a reason for staying? Basically that she is waiting for AOR and use the receipt from the common-law sponsorship application?
