I have recently moved to Canada on PR in Sept 2014. My girlfriend was pregnant and delivered a baby boy. I am now planning to get married to her and bring both the kid and my girlfriend to Canada. What is the process and will I have any problems bringing them here ??

When you landed as a PR, did you declare you were married?

I have not declared as I am not married and also I got to know after I came to Canada.

You should answer a few basic questions:
- before landing as PR had you lived with your gf for 1 year?
- is the baby yours?
- what country is she from?
- how long have you been dating her?

Sorry I forgot you weren't married. I mean if you lived with your g/f for more than a year, did you delcare before landing?

Following are the answers:

- before landing as PR had you lived with your gf for 1 year? We have a relationship for about 2 years but we never lived together.
- is the baby yours? Yes
- what country is she from? India
- how long have you been dating her? 2 years

Actually 1 more question, was your baby born before or after you landed as PR?

MikeyMyke,

No I have not declared about my girlfriend as I was not aware of this.

You don't need to declare your g/f if you never lived together, so you're not common-law.

It seems like you have a pretty straightforward case, but as Rob asked, was your baby born before PR? If so did you declare?

Uh oh...

I'll respectfully let Rob_TO or mikeymyke give the news. :(

Did you declare your child before you landed?

Was the baby declared as a non-accompanying dependent in your application, and did an infant medical exam?

If not, unfortunately that means you can never sponsor your child as a PR, ever.

Sadly, the only option now might be to get married ASAP...sponsor your wife...she could then sponsor her baby after she becomes a PR.

Anyone think that might be an option?

Actually, I don't think that would work since she would need to declare the baby in her own application (when you sponsor her).
