I have got PPR (as FSW) & waiting for our passports & then to move to Canada.....

With limited info on family class sponsorship, I understand that I need to prove that I earn enough money & can sponsor my mother....

What is that amount I need to earn before I start sponsorship application for my mother?

Once that amount is earned & as proof, mentioned on my salary slip.... can I initiate the process or would I need to wait for filing taxes in Canada before initiating the process....
(I understand that it takes 3-4 years in Canada with initial application & then 3-4 years in specific visa office, New Delhi in my case)

Would appreciate your guidance.....

Yep, that looks about right. They call it gross annual income, so I would take it that means pre-tax.

thanks for replying.....

there is long queue ahead... so if I call my mother on visitor visa for 5-6 months every year... that won't effect in negative in her PR case?... I understand that I would need to manage medical insurance for her....

But hopefully she would be able to stay with us for 5-6 months/ year and such thing is within rule book....
(I know that it's common sense, but trying to confirm ahead of time....)

thank you all..

Yes, she is eligible to visit Canada on a temporary visitor visa while waiting for her PR application to be processed. Keep in mind it is difficult to get a temporary visa. She must prove she will leave Canada before the visa expires.

At first thought it is frustrating to know that it is difficult.... I would never think about for extension without given permitted time.... as I would be concerned about future visitor visa application for her...

But we have to follow rule & satisfy the consulate office.... but I hope she would be able to visit us in Canada....

@ canada_dream100 your case is very similar to mine

i might not be able to leave my mother since she's disabled and needs some nursing (not 24/7 though)

and since she has pre-existing disability, it's even more unlikely she would be given PR (if they decide she's gonna be a burden on canadian government)

if & when i get PR i'd wanna live 5 months in Canada and 7 months out of canada every year

this way i can indefinitely stay a PR without losing PR status and my mother can be a visitor to canada

the only problem is, if Canadian CHC/embassy/VO would issue a 5/6 month visit visa to my mother every year without any problem ... any ideas?

I found a link
http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/applications/guides/5196E10.asp

and as we are 3 member in family and need to sponsor one more => C$34,958 + C$15,343 = almost C$51K....

Am I correct?

Is this amount pre-taxes.... (I hope so...)

According to table 3 from above link the LICO for 4 persons is $41,307, I am a bit confused about the minimum income. I think is is pre tax too (gross income).
