Sponsoring me from SWEDEN?

Hello all,

I am a 30 year old guy who is citizen in Sweden.

I have been doing a lot of research on family class sponsorship and cannot find a definite answer to my questions. That is why I need your help, please.

My girlfriend and I, know each other since 2 years ago ( I already was in Canada as a tourist for a few months) and we decide to get married now. She has a permanent resident card and living in Alberta.

Here is my questions:

1. For first do I apply from outside Canada (in Sweden), or inside?

2. Which one has faster processing time?

a) For Inside Canada, I already see at this page => http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/canada/process-in.asp , that processing applications (in CPC Mississauga) that received up to August 17, 2007 is JUST 42 days. Did I understand right or not?

b) But other hand in the same page I see processing applications (in CPC Vegreville) that received up to March 10, 2007 is 6-7 months?

But:

point a) is for Sponsorship and point b) is for Permanent Residence Applications, which is my problem that I don´t get which one is for me, if I want apply from inside Canada.

3. Totally what is the different between Spousal and Conjugal partner for immigration in Canadian system?

4. In last please tell me step by step what we (My girlfriend and I) have to do from beginning, that we don´t do any mistake with paperworks, or do you think that is better we file our case by a lawyer (I know that is not obligated but if we do by ourself can it be possible to be successful, as people in Sweden do by them selfs for immigration. )

Once again thank you and hope for your advice.

Best,

Siba

Congratulation for your marriage.

To answer your Qs in order:

1) You have both options, inside and outside Canada. It depends on your current circumstances, where you are now, jobs, etc. Even if you are visiting Canada right now you still can apply from outside. You have the advantage that you come from a visa waiver country (sweden) so you do not need visa to visit your wife, while application is in process.

2) The outside application is definitely faster, provided your case is straightforward. The 42 days in CPC-M is referring to the time when your sponsor (wife) is approved and application is complete and ready to be sent to your local embassy office (Stockholm I guess). The 6-8 months in CPC-V is referring to first stage Approval in Principle (AIP).

3) If you are married now or soon, do not bother about conjugal partner issue.

4) You start from here. This is the link. When you get stuck in filling forms, you just come to the forum and ask.

Good luck
