Hello All,

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
I am a full time senior software engineer living in Toronto as permanent resident.
I am trying to sponsor my family for a visitor visa and I need help with the following queries

1) My mother's last name is different on her passport and mine:
On my passport my mothers name is written as NImala Kumari but on her passport it is Nirmala Pal. What documents would be needed to suffice the different last name? What last name should I use to write on the invitation letter Kumari or Pal?

2) I live in a rented shared house as of now but I am planning to get an apartment for my family before they arrive so do It need to provide the rental agreement with the application?

3) Do i need to get the invitation letter notarized can that help with mother last name problem?

What's her name on your birth certificate? On her marriage certificate? Does she have any document that proves she is the same person?

There is major difference in has last name.

Her application form must be filled exactly as per her passport. Same for the invitation letter.

It does not matter whether you live in a rented shared house or independently.

3) Do i need to get the invitation letter notarized can that help with mother last name problem?
The answer to #1 above might solve the issue

Hi Bryanna

Thank you so much for your prompt help. Below are the replies to your queries:

What's her name on your birth certificate? On her marriage certificate? Does she have any document that proves she is the same person?

I know her bank account had her name same as my passport but do you think an affidavit with Indian legal stamp stating that she has as an alias last name would help.

It does not matter whether you live in a rented shared house or independently.

So I do not need to share any rental agreement ?

Thank You

Legally, your birth certificate or her marriage certificate matter. She must prove that both identities are hers.

The bank statement won't make a difference.

Not required
