Hello, I am Canadian and my wife who is a permanent resident would like to sponsor her American parents . My wife does not work, so she has no income so would I be able to sponsor my in-laws?
also, it is my wife’s mother and her step father we are looking to sponsor.
Thank you in advance

1. When, if the Parents/Grandparents program opens this year, then your wife can use your salary can be used to meet the Minimum Necessary Income.

You wife would have to sponsor her mother. Her mother would then add the stepfather as her dependent. The program was supposed to go through many changes this year so would look thtough the program to see if you qualify once announced. The demand far exceeds the number of spots so there are no guarantees you will get selected so do not make plans assuming they can move in the next year or two to Canada. Always have a plan B.
