My wife is a Chinese citizen living in China. I am a Canadian citizen living in Canada. We started our long distance relationship in January 2016. I went to China to visit her three times during these years. We married in China last month on my third visit. We use an app called WeChat to message and video talk to keep our relationship alive and strong ever since we met online. Now I want to sponsor my wife to Canada.

I have two questions:
In my case, how do I show evidence of our genuine relationship? are pictures of us and chatting history from the app sufficient?

I am going back to school and will have no income by then. Am I still eligible to sponsor my wife?

Any clarification will be greatly appreciated!

If you have not already, you should download the application checklist off the IRCC site. It lays out very clearly the different types of proof that you need to submit as a couple who are not living together. You can familiarize yourself with what is required and figure out how to obtain what you currently do not have. Screenshots of conversations and proof of visits are a piece of it, but not all of it.

There is no income requirement to sponsor, but you do need to show proof of how you will support yourself and your spouse (savings, family support, etc.)
