Hello All,

I am a single parent. My son has just immigrated to Canada and looking for a job. The parent sponsoring scheme is again going to open in 2015. Can my son sponsor me as soon as he meets the required financial status or he has to stay there for few years before sponsoring me? Kindly let me know.

No - it's not possible for your son to sponsor you at this time. It will unfortunately be a number of years before your son can sponsor you. To qualify to sponsor you, he has to provide three years of Canadian tax returns that show he meets the minimum income levels for sponsoring a parent. If he's just looking for a job now, he's still a good four years away from qualifying to sponsor you (and it will take several additional years for the application to be processed).

If you would like to go for a short visit now - then you can look into a regular visitor visa.

If you would like to go for a longer visit - then you should wait until your son has found a job and then apply for a super visa.
