Hi all,

I'm asking this question on behalf of a friend who is going through marriage breakdown.

My friend is PR in Canada but currently going through emotional distress and possibly depression due to her marriage breakdown in Canada. She is living by herself and working too and all her family members live in India. She isn't in the state to go back-home either due to family issues and her family is concerned about her too.. She is close to her older brother and wants to sponsor him on visitor visa, so that he can stay with her atleast. I believe if she applies as per CIC guidelines for Visitor visa for family member, chances would be 50-50 for visa approval.

Question: Can she ask any type of letter from her family doctor that would help her to make her case stronger , so that she could attach that letter with rest of visitor visa documents (Sponsorship, funds, ID's etc.). If she can, what would be the format of the letter? Letter should be issued by her family doctor or he would recommend her to see a psychiatric etc..??

Would appreciate your responses,
Thanks,

There is no such thing as sponsorship. He applies for a visitor visa and she can include a invitation letter. The brother needs to show his own funds, ties to home country (job letter with approved leave, spouse/children, property), and travel history. She can include a letter of why he needs to come to canada. There’s no specific format. Use the search function as there are many examples on the forum. How long is the proposed visit?
