Sponsoring a Child for Canada PR

Hi All,

My son was born outside of Canada (in Australia - visa waiver country). Me and my wife both have PR cards . We would like to return to Canada and we will be sponsoring our child from Canada for PR .

In regards to that can we take our son along with us to Canada as he have an Australian passport because the CIC website say that either me or my partner has to travel to Canada and then sponsor the child. We don't want to leave our little child during his sponsorship application's processing period. Can we want take our son together with us and stay in Canada while we will do his sponsorship.

My second question is since we won't be having a job in Canada, can we still sponsor our child or do we need minimum necessary income for sponsoring the child ?

It would be highly appreciated if any one comment on this matter.

Yes - you can bring your son to Canada on the Aussie passport.

Yes - you can sponsor him before you have jobs.

Your child will not have health coverage in most provinces so you will likely have to purchase private health insurance for emergencies and pay for regular care. What province are you settling in? You will need to show you can support your child without government assistance.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I will be settling in Calgary (AB). Can you please tell me how to show the government that I can support my son as I left my job and will be moving to Calgary soon.

Thanks for the above response. Can anyone please clear my another confusion as well. I was filling up the forms and came across form imm0008enu. Does this form has to be completed by the sponsor or by the primary applicant and there is a question 3 which is "how many family members, including you, are in this application? If the form has to be filled up by the Primary Applicant then the answer is 2 (sponsor and PA)?

Can anyone help me with this?

You need to read the guide. IMM0008 is clearly indicated as an applicant form. The sponsor is not included in the application.
