Hello,
I have a question that no one could answer me.
I am a citizen of Russia but have been living in Italy for a really long time. I have Italian PR, etc...
I am currently living with my parents and they wanted to sponsor my trip to Canada. I have finished my studies, so I am not a student anymore and currently unemployed.
I wanted to go to college there in 2018, so in January I wanted to fly to Toronto to see "how is the life there" with my own eyes before deciding if I really want to apply for a Canadian college.
So technically I am an adult but still dependent from my parents. Which documents do I need to prepare to make everything correct?
Thank you!!

Hi,

I would not state your purpose of visiting as wanting to see "how is the life there" with my own eyes before deciding if I really want to apply for a Canadian college. This indicates intentions to remain long-term and could result in a TRV refusal.

Also, as you are young + no longer a student + unemployed + financially dependent on your parents, your chances of a TRV approval are low. I would wait until you find a job and/or enroll for a higher education program before applying for a Canadian TRV

Cheers

Thank you, I understand. A friend of our family owns a company and he said that if it's necessary he could hire me so I will have a written document that says that I am an employee in his company. Could this increase my chances?

UPD.
If I will have a contract in his company, will it still look normal if my parents pay for my trip?

Unless your friend is prepared to go through the process of a LIMA and the expense that goes with it, he can't hire you. He would need to prove there are no residents of Canada that can't fill the position he is offering you. That process can take 6 months or more and given your experience I would expect approval for you to work for him would ultimately fail.

Does your friend have a company in Canada or in Russia?

If your friend has a company in Canada, you can follow through with the advice given by Buletruck.

If he owns the company in Russia, you would need to work/prove that you have been working there for at least 6-8 months.... to demonstrate your employment ties (pay slips, taxes, bank statements for the salary earned, etc)

Actually his company is in Italy but I understand that in any way I will have to proof that I've been working there for the last 7 months.
So for me the is NO way to just visit Canada as a tourist?
Because talking frankly (and I have no reason to lie here as I am simply explaining my case) I was going to just temporarily visit the country and the trip was supposed to be payed by my parents.
And from what I see now, I really have 0 chances to simply visit the place?
Like absolutely no way?

You can get a TRV as a tourist if you're able to prove you have ties to Russia. Unfortunately, you don't have any.

You're unemployed..... you don't own property.... not a student.... no finances to afford the visit.... no Canadian host... your purpose of visit is for sightseeing, the visa officer might believe you can overstay your visit or even work illegally. That's why the chances of a refusal are very high

Even if some language school will send me an invitation for paid language courses, the officer will likely refuse my case?
Sorry for being so stubborn. It is because I truly understand that if I want something, I have to try every possible way before giving up.

Language programs are regarded by CIC as a very weak reason for coming to Canada. People who try to come to Canada to take language courses generally aren't regarded as genuine students but as individuals who are using the language course as an excuse to come to Canada (like you're trying to do). Too many people before you have used language courses for this reason and CIC figured that out a long time ago...

So, I presume the only single way for me to go there is a "1 year certificate program" in some college?

Go with 2 years if you can afford it and if you want PR. Low chances of PR with just a 1 year program (because you only get a 1 year PGWP).

Unfortunately, I cannot afford it.
My girlfriend is currently studying in Niagara college (The regular 2-years college program) and actually she is getting just 1 year of PGWP after she finishes. Also, in your personal opinion: isn't 1 year is more than enough to find a job a extend your work permit after you get your college diploma?

Just getting a job by no means guarantees you'll even qualify for PR - nevermind have enough points to be selected above other candidates. You want to obtain at least a year of full time work experience in a skilled profession (NOC A, B or 0) so that you can qualify to apply under CEC. This is often very difficult with just a one year PGWP and keep in mind that any work experience gained part time during your studies is not counted as work experience in immigration applications. We see lots of people here who have a great deal of difficulty converting a 1 year program into PR. This is very difficult to do unless you already have several years of full time skilled work experience outside of Canada.

Oh - and in terms of extending a 1 year Post Graduate Work Permit - that's extremely difficult as well since the employer needs to go through the LMIA process. Most employers aren't willing to do it since it's long, expensive and has no guarantee of approval.

Thank you for explaining me everything... Now I understand how complex the problem is. And now, since she's getting 1 year of PGWP, she's in trouble too. Don't really know how I'm gonna tell her that :(
Wait, I just remembered something. But When you study, you have the full right to have a part-time job, right? So if we presume that I will not lose my time on a couch and start working asap, plus 1 year of PGWP will it still be not enough for a CEC?
