Sponsored work visa for me and my wife

Hello everyone,

I work remotely from Lebanon with a Canadian company located in Lachine, QC.

They decided to sponsor a colleague of mine with his wife, they created a profile for him and added his way and she got open work visa while he got sponsored by the company.

His wife got the approval a month later, which is weird since he's the main applicant, it took him 6 months to get an update on his file, they asked for additional document which is the employer compliance fee proof, which they uploaded and got the approval two days after.

The same is happening with me now, we sent our biometrics on January 30, 2023, my wife got the approval on March 2, 1 month later! While I am the main applicant, with no update whatsoever.

March 8, I receive an update asking about the proof of compliance fee which we submitted the very same day, since then, there hasn't been an update on the file, it says:

• The additional documents you provided have been uploaded.

Should it switch to reviewing? It's been more than 1 month, any idea ? Is there a way we can ask for an update on the file or we must wait ? Weird part is that I am the main applicant and I am sponsoring my wife with a job offer and everything, and she got approved before me

Unfortunately not much than wait.

You can try raising a webform but i will not expect much out of it

Although the spouse got approval first it is contingent on their spouses getting a WP and the spouse coming to Canada before or after them. Processing times for different visas have different timelines but It is bad practice to approve SOWP before the primary applicant. The one big issue for both of you will be proof that you will return to Lebanon. If a company is sponsoring more and more employees there is usually additional scrutiny. There is no processing time limit for WP. All you can do is wait.
