A fre months ago my wife was asked to, along with her passport, provide a resume to the VO. What does this mean? Does this mean a random background check? Does this mean another 6 months of waiting?

It would give us a clue if you were to quote the passage in the letter. A resume is a short account of something. But what? Give us some more detail!

The letter was very short and said little at all as to why they were requesting a resume. All the letter said was to send in a copy of your resume along with your passport. That was back in March.

Two weeks ago, her ecas changed to "in process". Everything is so ambiguous. The visa office in my wife's country won't even pick up the phone, and never returns phone or e-mail messages! I had to find out if I qualified after "decision made, will send you letter" by calling IC in Ottawa from Asia after two months of waiting for the letter which never arrived!

I truly hope that when the officers come back with their big raise, that they can start being a little more transparent with those of us who are helping to pay their wages and need their assistance.

I have not come across this issue before; so my guess is as good or as bad as yours. My inclination would be to read the word as meaning curriculum vitae. In other words a list of the main events in your wife's life relevant to immigration to Canada: birth, schooling, university, work, addresses, engagement, marriage, birth of children, date of submission of application etc. You do not say what country you are in but query whether there is a country specific requirement applicable to her?
