I am currently living with my common-law partner in Canada for over 3 years and I'm applying under the sponsorship of my common-law partner who is a Canadian citizen. We found the CIC webpage (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5289ETOC.asp#eligibility)
specifies that
"All sponsors must show that they can provide for the basic needs of the persons being sponsored."
But as an applicant without any dependants or children, I don't see any requirements of minimum income. My sponsor is self-employed (no pay-stub) and has enough assets/potential income to cover the living cost of me but as a new grad, his 2016 income is quite low. So how should he show that he can provide for the basic needs of me? What's frustrating is that even if I have a job in Canada right now, my income wouldn't be able to contribute to this, am I right?
Thanks!
