Hi everyone, this site was so helpful for me when i recently sponsored my husband to move to Canada with me, we Landed last November and are having an amazing time! We want to sponsor my husbands parents now, and although I know that there is a 2 year hold on this, I wondered if anyone knows if applications are still being accepted just not looked at?

I was initially under the impression that no applications were being accepted and that really we just needed our parents to have everything in-line for when the ban was lifted so that the application could go straight in, however a colleague has now put doubt in my mind telling me that the applications are still being accepted and not to waste any time in getting it in????

Can anyone help me with this this? We are deparate to have them here with us so the sooner the better!!

Thanks in advance..

From http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/index.asp:

Note: As of November 5, 2011, no new applications to sponsor parents or grandparents will be accepted for processing for up to 24 months. This temporary pause will allow us to focus on those applicants already awaiting a decision and reduce the backlog in the parents and grandparents category. This does not affect sponsorship applications for spouses, partners, dependent or adopted children and other eligible relatives. New applications received on or after November 5, 2011, will be returned to the applicant, including fees.

It is possible to get a 2 year visa for his parents to visit while you wait for the sponsorship program to open again. You can read about it at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/supervisa.asp

Thank you both that's really helpful. Unfortunately the super visa isn't really an option as they would want to get jobs (all be it part time jobs) so we will have to wait and hope that they resume in 2013, we will just need to make sure we have everything in place for the day they tart taking applications again!
