Hi guys,

I just received the invitation for parent sponsorship, however my 2021 income is lower than requirements. I took one-year leave in 2021 to company my grandmother who was very sick but before and after that year, I met the income requirements.

I have employment letter states I am permanently employed since 2016, which means if I don’t take one year leave I should have met the income.

In this situation, should I still try to apply? If I get denied, will this result affect other visa stream, such as visit visa, super visa even next draw for parent sponsorship?

Thank you!

Meeting LICO is a strict rule. You meet or you don’t. It is your decision but if refused it doesn’t impact future visas. As for the next draw, if IRCC continues to pick from 2020 pool then your profile is no longer in it.

Why would you still apply ?

It’s either you meet the LICO
Or you don’t

You took the time off knowing you would need to continue meeting LICO to qualify for PGP so you must have known that this would disqualify you from PGP for many years.

You have consciously decided to spend time with your grandmother instead of sponsoring your parents. Your parents should understand and I hope you discussed that with them when you requested the 1 year leave. (not many company allow that)
So there is no what if. You do not meet income requirement to sponsor your parents for the next few years. So if PGP opens up in 2025, may be you can apply to sponsor/interest to sponsor again.
