Hi all,

I found out that there's two checklists (IMM 5287e and IMM 5589).

IMM 5287e - Document checklist sponsor
IMM 5589 - Document checklist Common-law partner (including dependent children)

There are some overlaps between the two and I mainly follow IMM 5589.

The supporting documents is slightly different on the IMM 5287e one where it asks for an original letter from current employer stating period of employment, salary etc while the IMM 5589 does not ask for such.

Would I need to complete and provide both checklists? as the IMM 5589 which I follow mainly also has supporitng documents section related to sponsor?

Thanks all for your help and support!

Cheers,
Derek

Pre-Assessed..
After you hit "Get checklist and forms", under Checklist, it shows only IMM5589. So you only need to prepare IMM5589.

That's not the correct package for sponsoring spouses (common-law or married).

If you read carefully it says "Use this application if you are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident living in Canada and you want to sponsor close family members living abroad, including your:"

It does not show spouses in the list below that.

Right. OP lives in Hong Kong. He or she should use IMM5589.

Thank you so much @steaky and @armoured for the thoughtful replies as always! I digress you gotta be super carefully while reading the lines on what’s required and what’s not while filling out the form details.
