Sponsor app sent before residents app??

Haven't even started this process and it's so confusing.
The CIC website says it is currently a 62 day wait for my sponsorship application to be processed, then the wait varies on which visa office (which is 32 months!!)
Is there any way I can send my paperwork to sponsor before we have all my hubby's paperwork completed? Any head start seems like it would be helpful.
Really?! 32 months?!
What do we do while we're waiting? :|

The whole application is required to be sent to Mississauga CIC
62 days is approximately what it takes at this time to receive SA sponsorship approval known as 1st stage approval.

As for the 32 months the actual time to process does very greatly between the different visa offices and a great deal of the time the real processing time to completion is shorter.

1. American apps are processed in Ottawa.

2. The processing times, as stated at the top of the page, are how long it took to process 80% of apps. This is not an average. Ottawa is currently averaging around 8 months.

Super helpful, I had no idea American applications were done through Ottawa.
The 8 month estimation is far less daunting than 32!
