Sponsor and visitor visa

I've sponsored my mother to migrate to Canada. It's been 1 year since I've sponsored. The process time is roughly 4 years. My mother was staying with my sister. My sister recently got her Canadian PR and she is migrating to Canada next month. My mother is widowed and she doesn't have anyone to look after her.
Can I ask my mother to apply for a visitor visa so she can come and stay with us while the sponsorship is being processed? Will this affect the sponsorship in anyway?

Your mother can apply for a visitor's visa, and if she gets one it will not negatively affect her PR application. But to get the visitor's visa she has to prove she will leave Canada when the visa expires, usually by showing strong ties to her home country.

@canadianwoman: The same case is with me as well. I like to extend the visitor visa of my mother. For sponsorship the processing time is too much. Could you please let me know by what other means she can stay with me for longer duration?
