I'm looking into sponsoring my cousin to immigrate to Canada (my parents and sibling have no intentions coming to Canada). However, if I'm reading the IRCC website correctly, it appears I am unable to sponsor my cousin because I'm married to a Canadian citizen - can anyone can confirm if I am interpreting the information correct?

Source: Sponsor your relatives: Who you can sponsor > Other Relatives
You may sponsor one relative, related by blood or adoption, of any age, if you meet all of these conditions:
  • you (the person who wants to sponsor your relative) don't have a living relative you could sponsor instead, such as a:
    • spouse
    • common-law partner
    • conjugal partner
    • son or daughter
    • parent
    • grandparent
    • orphaned brother or sister
    • orphaned nephew or niece
    • orphaned grandchild
  • you (the potential sponsor) don’t have any relatives (aunt or uncle or any of the relatives listed above), who is a:
    • Canadian citizen
    • permanent resident
    • registered Indian under the Indian Act

Thank you.

Thank you.

You are right in understanding that the fact you are married prevents you from sponsoring your cousin. Having said that, even if you weren't married, it still wouldn't be possible since your parents are still alive.
