Hello, have a qn.am a Canadian citizen and we are filling up spousal sponsorship app for my wife, and we want to adopt her late sisters daughter but can she include her as a dependant child in the forms or an adopted child doesn't fall in the category of dependant child.
And if not when can I sponser our adopted child after my wife gets her PR

How old is the child? Is the child an orphan (i.e. both parents deceased)? Is your wife already the primary caregiver for the child (meaning the child lives exclusively with her)?

The child is 8years, the father to the child is unknown and the mum to the child is deceased, and yes my wife has been the primary caregiver.my wife is with me in canada now and the child lives in africa

How long ago did the sister die? When did your spouse care for the child? Who is caring for the child now?

The sister died last month, but my wife has been supporting the child for all these years, and the child now stays with another sister back home

Adoption of family members without being able to prove that they are orphaned can be challenging. Was the child living with their mothers until her death? When you say supporting do you mean financially or living together like mother and child without the biological mother for many years.

Financial support is one thing. Your wife doesn't actually appear to be or have been the child's caregiver, which can lead to issues in these situations. If the father actually unknown or just not involved in the child's life?

Yes supporting financial, the child never stayed with the biological mum,

You can certainly adopt her and try to bring her to Canada. How long has your wife been in Canada? Was the child living with your wife full-time before leaving for Canada or has she been living with other family for her whole life. Who has she been living with? It will be very important to CIC to know if the father is actually unknown or whether he is unaware of the child or just not involved. Adopting and sponsoring a family member is actually quite hard.
