Speaking test, part two – legal time length 2 minutes?

Hello all,

I have a question about part two of speaking test.
Known that in this part you receive card with questions and have to prepare for 1 minute.
After this must answer within 1-2 minutes.
I spoke exactly 2 minutes according to my chronometer.
But the tester began to show with him hands– without expression by speaking something that I need to continue, just 1 second after I stopped to speak.
I am immediately said" It's all" and He continued with test with out attitude to that is happened.
Please give any idea why the tester started to show with him hands that I need to continue?

You do not need to worry at all. As long as you have covered the all contents you were given to speak, your delivery was fluent and gramatically error free. Cheers

strange.. exactly the same thing happened with me. jst that i spoke a couple of lines more before stopping after the tester's hand gestures.

i got 7.5 band. so, probably it was notthat bad after all..

Hey Aanbaan,

Just out of interest, In this speaking test, are you given a Card with a topic written on it or do you guys get to choose one out of say some (5 to 6)topics.

oh! so the Interviewer just picks up a card and hand it out to you guys and then gives you 1 Minute to write/jot down what you need to speak on and then after that you have 2 Minutes to speak on the topic, I am correct?

nope.. the interiew is divided in 3 parts...

in first part, they ask about you, what you do, aspirations, and pick some topic. in my case, how important is family to you, esp grandparents, etc.

in second part, they hand out a card and on that a topic is written. you need to think for 1 minute and speak for 2... it was about empowerment of older people, etc.

in part 3, the interviewer goes deeper into your response from part 2 and test your waters... the whole thing goes on for about 15-20 mins.
