SPEAKER IN CONFERENCE IN MONTREAL , TRAVEL WITH FAMILY ?

hi all
I myself am a Doctor , working as a resident (student) in AIIMS new delhi , india (GOVT HOSPITAL).
I have been invited as a speaker for an international conference to be held in montreal around 10th OCTOBER 2018.
I have got an invitation letter from the conference organizers for the same.

I would like to visit canada for 7 days , around october 10th , along with my family (sister , uncle and mother).

My mother is a central govt employee , my sister is also a doctor and completing her studies and my uncle is a retired govt servant.

my queries :

1) what should be given as the purpose of visit so that the visa gets accepted ? for myself , i have selected the option "other" and explained about the conference. What about my family members ? should they say that they are accompanying me for the conference or should they be tourists ? which would be better for acceptance of VISA ?

2) My uncle is a pensioner with his dependants in INDIA . What documents can he provide to prove his ties with INDIA ? should he submit a copy of the assets owned ?

3) our tickets have already been booked (REFUNDABLE) and since i would be getting a refund from the govt for my trip and am required to travel via AIR INDIA . My family is travelling on the same dates , via private AIRLINES . Would this be an issue as far as visa is concerned ?

Any tips to improve our chances on getting a visa would be helpful

You will be applying for a Business TRV.

Who will be paying for your visit including your airfare?
Your employment ties are not strong if you are a resident/student doctor. Are you working for your post graduation?
Have you attended similar conferences or been a speaker at similar conferences?
What documents will you be submitting?

IMO, the visa officer might not be convinced that your family needs to travel with you. Generally, a business visitor travels alone and not with his/her family.

Also, it would seem rather unusual that your family will each spend considerable savings on a 7-day visit. The chances of approval for each applicant would depend on their individual strong ties + their individual financial situation without borrowing from anyone.

Short advice:
IMO, your family must not apply to accompany you. They do not have any previous travel history + they intend to accompany you on a business visit which is unusual + with your family applying together, the family ties to Canada will outweigh those to India (except for your uncle who has two dependents).

If they would still like to apply then do post the list of documents for each applicant.

Quite honestly, your own chances of a TRV approval are not strong. That's because you are paying for your own trip even though you have been invited as a speaker + no previous history as a speaker at other conferences + you are a resident doctor + no previous travel history, etc

I have a document from AIIMS showing that my tenure here is not completed and that they have given me permission to apply for visa and visit canada. I am presenting a research paper which has been selected
For the conference.
I would be submitting the documents for proof of acceptance of my research paper. And my payslips my bank acccount statements showing sufficient funds.

Short advice:

If this is an important trip for you - apply on your own first. If your visa is granted, your family member can then try applying separately.

It is an important trip for me. If i apply myself still in the famiky declaration form, my mother has to be ticked in "accompanying myself to canada"

Will applying together reduce my chance of a vida if at all?

As scylla has suggested:
Your chances of approval can improve if you apply alone. Your mom, sister and uncle must not apply with you/ must not be listed as 'accompanying' you in your TRV application form.

Family members do not accompany someone for a business visit. Also, IMO, your sister has the highest chances of a TRV refusal.

Like I have mentioned earlier, your application itself is pretty weak in a number of ways. You would really need to work very hard to prove why you must attend the conference as a speaker + why you must return to India
