SP renewal help needed!!

Hello,

I am an international student in Canada. My program of study is B.Sc Computer Science at York University.

In fall of 2015, I was required to withdraw from university for a year due to poor academic performance ( failed some courses).

I resumed my studies in fall of 2016 and I am currently taking this summer semester.

My study permit will expire by 30th of July 2017. Given my academic record, it seems that my application for renewal of sp may get rejected. What I would like to know is should I apply for renewal or should i wait for my permit to expire and then apply for a new SP from my home country.

If I have to apply for a renewal of SP, should i provide any additional documents or letter explaining why I did not study for a year, why was i suspended for a year and what am i doing now to improve my grades? Should I provide my transcripts? My transcripts arent good at all. Can I provide a customized letter of enrolment from university, that says that I was suspended in 2015 but now I have resumed my studies and I am a full time student?

I called CIC toll free number and talked to one of the agents. I discussed my case with him and he told me that there is no need for additional documents in ny case.

Guys please help me out. Is there a chance ny application for renewal of SP may get accepted if i provide all the necessary documents?

One more thing, can I provide only my letter of enrolment instead of transcripts? My letter will mention that I was suspended for a year.

In general, chances are higher if applied from within Canada.

Poor academic performance ( and suspesion) will go against you. But, the fact that you have resumed your study will probably override the performance factor. At least you did not do anything illegal. So CIC has no reason not to extend SP, especially when your school has granted readmission. Just my thoughts though.

As far as I remember, you will need both transcript and enrollment letter; check with CIC website.

Thankyou for your reply

Yes, bad academic performance and suspension xan go against me, but i was told by the cic call centre agent that if suspension was granted by University then it is not students fault and as long as all the documents are provided which are mentioned in personalised checklist. I am worried that there is a chance my application may get rejected even if i provide all the documents.

The cic agent said that i need to provide the documents that are mention in personalised checklist ( when you answer online eligibilty questionare on cic website). My personalised checklist does not mention transcripts. I only need to provide a letter of enrolment/ registration.

I can get a customized letter from my University that says that I am currently enrolled in my courses, that i was suspended in 2015 due to poor academic record but i resumed a year later. Should I provide only this letter should I also submit transcripts?

If it was not asked on the checklist, it is not an essential component. I think transcript will be required for TRV not SP.

Just the letter should be fine.
