I am on Open work permit and valid for an year from now. I am planning to apply for study permit to study a 9 month program with no PGWP eligibility. What will happen to SOWP upon study permit approval. Will it be still valid? Can I use the SOWP if study permit expires sooner than SOWP until we file the SOWP extension? Please help.

Nothing happens. You still have a SOWP until expiry. When are you applying? Approved PAL? You need the funds and justify costs with career and education progression when you return home. So explain that you will make xx more money then you would with current education and past job in home country.

I read somewhere that PAL is not required if you are applying from inside. Is that not true?
Rules changed for PAL so see if you are exempt.

You can reapply if eligible and address reasons for refusal. What is spouse’s NOC or study program?
Did you confirm that your spouse was refused based on your NOC? If so there is no point in reapplying until you meet the requirements for an SOWP.
