Hello,
I am currently an international undergraduate student in the BBA program and my girlfriend who is also an international student from the same country as mine is pursuing her Masters in Chemistry, I had arrived here in 2023 Jan and she arrived this Fall 2024 for her first semester. Both of our study permits are expiring in late 2027, we have been in a relationship for 7 years and are planning to get a civil ceremonial marriage in the coming few months, we will be going back to our home country for formal celebrations after she completes her PHD in pharmaceutical sciences. She has a full scholarship along with a pay averaging 30k a year. I am currently working part time whilst completing my studies, I wanted to ask if I could be eligible to apply for SOWP post marriage provided we have ample proof to show the authenticity of our marriage tracing back to 7 years, the addresses on our passports are identical as we grew up in the same neighborhood and we can also arrange for affidavits, pictures, call records, text messages showing the genuine reason for our marriage as we have been together for a long time now. We study in two different cities in the same province and have ample proof of travel history when we visit each other every few weeks. We have known each other since we were kids and came to this decision as we want to spend the rest of our lives together. I want to support her through her academic journey both financially and emotionally hence I was looking to apply for an SOWP as my study permit does not allow me to work more than a certain number of hours per week. Will I be eligible under the inbound category and since we would be marrying we will be considered married spouses and not common law partners that exempts us from living together for a year before applying for SOWP. Any advice on how to go about it would highly appreciated, thank you!
Clarification - I am the one receiving the sponsorship and my girlfriend is the sponsor in this hypothetical scenario.
