Hello, I was accepted for a diploma in Nova Scotia Community College, however I have already a Bachelor degree in Software Engineering. I tried to link my job experience with this diploma since it is something I really need for my career. Could you let me know if this is ok or if I need to add any other detail?

Thanks in advance

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have completed a bachelor’s in software engineering from Universidad TecMilenio, Morelia with an average score of 94%. I have been working in the IT industry for the last 4.5 years. Here in Mexico, my home country, the Information Technology industry has been thriving and growing enormously on the last years. In my previous job and the actual job, I have been involved in testing software related to sustainable energy and environmental technology. This work experience has inspired me to pursue my further studies in Canada, to specialize on this type of sustainable technologies and gather all the knowledge necessary to follow my career path and be able to get better job opportunities here in Jalisco, my state of current residence in Mexico.

To be able to enroll in a Canadian institution, I have taken the IELTS test and got 7.5 overall score, with no band below 7.0. With this English test result I applied to Nova Scotia Community College in NS, Canada for the program: Energy Systems Engineering Technology, and got the acceptance letter.

As a student, I have always maintained an excellent academic record; upon graduation I got several awards, such as “Honorific Mention” which is an award provided by the institution to the best student of the generation. In addition, I got the “Satisfactory Performance” award, which is an award given by the government to outstanding students that complete the CENEVAL exam, compulsory for all students completing a bachelor’s degree.

After completion of the bachelor’s degree, I started my career as a Software Quality Assurance Analyst back in 2013. Since then I have been working in the IT industry as a software designer, involved in the testing quality of web, desktop and mobile applications; as well as the software for hardware devices related to sustainable technologies, such as intelligent light meters, solar panels, solar-powered batteries, among others.

Sustainable technologies are becoming a great necessity in Mexico, since many resources such as water, light or natural gas, are becoming limited in many regions of the country. However, to implement these technologies, it is necessary to have the required knowledge to design, develop and test the hardware and software required to create devices that are not only functional, but also affordable to most of the population.

By taking up Energy Systems Engineering Technology program on an international level I will get highly valuable knowledge that is hard to find in my home country. This will provide huge opportunities to give the necessary push to my career to obtain better job opportunities and with it, to have the opportunity to help my country through the knowledge acquired abroad about the sustainable solutions that are so necessary in Mexico. I am certain that my chosen program is right for me and I am sure that having this diploma would ensure better employment opportunities and a successful career back at home, this is something that has not only inspired me, but it is something that I have relevant experience in.

Since this specific or any other related program is not available in my country, and after analyzing all the college options and checking course contents thoroughly, I am convinced that Canada is a better option compared to other destinations, such as the US which is quite expensive, as it has developed a first-rate education system with high standards and global recognition. Nova Scotia Community College is a recognized institution, it offers excellent tuition fees for international students and the program is offered in a shorter duration, compared to other colleges offering the same program.

I am showing the sufficient funds and income, with my family support, to meet the College Tuition fee, travelling expenses and my living cost during my stay in Canada. I have enclosed those documents with my application. Please consider my request at earliest possible, so that I would meet my course in time.

The write up is good but you need to reiterate/emphasize more on your home ties(your family or any assets), your future prospectives, and state your intentions of returning back to your home country

Also, after a Bachelor, you are suppose to go for a PGD and not for a Diploma.. the VO will be finding it hard to believe that you claim to want progression in your career that's the reason for pursuing a further studies as going for a Diploma won't be seen as progression, so you should work tediously on this part for a more convincing and very strong points

Good luck!
