Hello guys,

Its me again :) Just have some questions regarding Work Permit Application.

I found this info on this link: http://can-am.gc.ca/visas/work_download-telcharger_travailler.aspx?lang=eng

Before you fill out the application or request a work permit at a port of entry, you will need:

1) A written job offer from your employer
2) Proof that you meet the requirements of the job (for example, proof of certain education or work experience); and
3) The positive labour market opinion (LMO) on your job offer from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC), if one is required. If you are applying for a work permit for a job that requires an LMO, you must now include the valid LMO with your application. We are no longer accepting work permit applications without valid LMOs.

Questions:

1.) Does the LMO given by the employer automatically include the Job Offer?
or Do I need to ask them for it in addition to the LMO?
2) Regarding the proof that I meet the requirement, what do you guys normally submit? (Example: Resume? Employment Certificate, Training Certificate?)

Thank you in advance for those who will be responding :)

Spidy

Thanks Again Pippin. Would the Job Description and Employment certificate be enough proof?
Can I inlcude Training Certificates?

Also, do you know the answer to my first question?
---->1.) Does the LMO given by the employer automatically include the Job Offer?
or Do I need to ask them for it in addition to the LMO?)

I don't have personal experience with this, but as I recall our friend received a job contract that he had to sign and include with his application. As far as providing proof that you meet the qualifications required, don't skimp on that proof. You don't want to leave anything to the VO's interpretation. Look critically at your documentation as if you were the assessor. Does it look credible? Can the information be confirmed by anyone other than the applicant?

Speaking from precise experience (personal as well as several others i know directly)

1) No, LMO never includes the job offer. But it does state some of the terms agreed in the job offer e.g. your title, salary and some other conditions. The way this works is that employer first offers you, by sending you a job offer, you sign and accept it and employer submits it with application for LMO possibly along with additional credentials of yours in the LMO application. Once they get it approved, you are sent a copy that you submit to embassy along with other things for your work permit application.

There are cases where employers apply for Unnamed LMOs (not accepted in all provinces and not for all professions) and add employee names latter. However, those are usually for low skilled jobs and are exceptions rather than the norm.

2) Your proof could include every thing like job experience letters, reference letters, training certificates if relevant and even relevant educational degrees. Even pay stubs and bank statements showing THOSE PAYS ACTUALLY BEING deposited to your account (this is very important as it actually proves you have been earning that money back home for the role specified and helps to serve strong local ties). Doing any less than this, would risk your profile's proof of credibility.

The official wording mentioned by CIC is "include job offer and contract". Often one document suffices for these both, but it must cover the areas. Contract often details your terms of employment, hours, vacations, any joining / relocation bonus etc. in addition to salary. Also - the conditions of employment.

Personally, i was provided two separate docs by my employer, and i submitted copies of both along with LMO when i applied for work permit at the local embassy. But i have known cases which did get away with a single one. Just it has to be comprehensive enough and cover the things i mentioned - in addition to job description, responsibilities etc.

This is so helpful. Thanks fkl :)
