A few difficult questions I can't find information on answering, thanks in advance for your help.

APPLICANT PAPERWORK

Generic Application Form for Canada IMM0008

CONTACT INFORMATION: Street Name and Fax no?

My street doesn't have a name, it's all numbers, so what should I put? If we don't own a fax machine, do we leave it blank, or put NONE in the box?

NATIONAL IDENTITY DOCUMENT

I tried searching about that. Some people said to just use your Passport, others said to put N/A in the box, which is correct?

Schedule A - Background Declaration IMM5669E

Question # 6 part e

Have you, or, if you are the principal applicant, any of your family members listed in your application for permanent residence in Canada, ever:

e) been refused admission to, or ordered to leave, Canada or any other country? yes/no

One of my visitor extensions was declined because I had submitted it a little too late, obviously I was informed that I would need to leave Canada due to my lack of status - wasn't a deportation order. Would this count as a yes to that question?

Question # 8 Personal History

I had a restaurant job when I was 18. However, they changed "systems", whatever that means, after I had quit my job, which meant they didn't have my past records on file anymore when I called to ask for them, which means I can't provide exact employment dates, what should I do about this? :(

Sponsored Spouse Partner Questionnaire IMM5490E

First Contact Question # 1

Did you have any contact with your sponsor before you met in person? When did you first contact your sponsor? How did you first contact your sponsor?

What exactly does this mean? My sponsor and I endured a few years long distance relationship up until we finally met in person, how would I put this on the questionnaire?

DEVELOPMENT OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP Question # 11

Did your sponsor meet any of your close friends and family?

I can't for the life of me remember the exact date, but I do remember the month and year, it was mid to near end of June 2011. Is it okay if I leave out the day in my dates?

I'm worried about delays because of these questions and my own personal immigration situation ><

Fill out the street address as Christopher above has noted.

The question asks about a national identity document (if you have one). If your country does not issue national identity documents, then check the 'no' box.

Answer it yes and then explain why you were asked to leave. If you omit it, they will find it and claim you misrepresented yourself and decline your application.

Give them your 'best' guess on the dates for ALL things, if you don't know the exact dates. Mark the guess dates with an * and include a separate sheet with that document number on the top and the question number (as is indicated in the directions for these forms) explaining WHY you put the dates the way you did.

When it comes to explaining first contact. Do EXACTLY as it states. It asks you if you had any contact before first meeting in person. You said you guys had an online relationship for a few years first. Good, then explain that you did have it, how you came to first 'meet' on the internet and so on and so forth.

The same things applies for this as for the job dates. Use the * method when you 'guess' the dates and attach a form explaining this.

These are standard questions for the entire application. What 'personal immigration situation' are you referring to? The application you are filling out is for a spousal sponsorship. If you are not the spouse of a Canadian citizen or Canadian PR this application package is not for you. If you are the Canadian citizen or Canadian PR you don't fill this part out, this part is for your spouse to fill out.

When I say personal immigration situation I just refer to each couple as they go through the immigration process, as each couple has a different situation. Also we are filling the paperwork out together, I'm just the one who made an account to ask some questions ^ ^

Just take your time with the application and fill it out as completely and accurately as you can. Any time you have to 'guess' at a date, mark it with an * and attach a separate sheet explaining why. The more complete and accurate you are with YOUR situation, the better your application will fare once it reaches its destination VO. Don't worry about getting delays based on how you answer the questions. There are no right/wrong answers here and the VO's know this. Each application is treated individually and is not lumped in with others to compare it to.

i agree with Alurra. As I seem to be nearing the end of the process (fingers crossed), it's funny to see the things I thought would be "red flags", don't seem to be a concern for CIC. My application was 95 pages total - including all required docs. I know left a few boxes unchecked, made tons of spelling errors, didn't send phone or skype logs, and didn't measure my pictures for accuracy because i didn't know there was a difference in passport and immigration photos. I just got my PPR, changed to in process, and no other document requests so far. (fingers crossed again)

We are certainly more critical on our application than they are. Our files are being processed by human beings most likely following a checklist. If more information is needed, then they will ask for it. Answer the questions to the best of your ability, don't lie on the forms, follow the checklist, include enough proof to prove an ongoing relationship, and you'll be fine! Trust me when i say, the stress of finding things "wrong" with the application or whether something is "right" doesn't help make the process any easier. :)

Thank you and Alurra, I'm sure you both understand the stress I'm trying to justify XD

I had asked this in my other thread, but it's probably the last thing that's worrying me that I'm trying to find an answer to, if you don't mind:

during my last visit in Canada, my visitor extension had been submitted a little too late, and I was sent a refusal letter based on that fact, so I had to leave. I was unable to leave immediately, as the only person who could come get me and my things was my Father, who couldn't take time off from work to do so. My father & siblings instead were coming up to Canada on my father's vacation time for a week. We spent it together and I returned home with my family when they left, which resulted in a 2.5 month overstay, resolved when I left Canada. Do I need to provide this information in, say, my Relationship Timeline letter? Where would I provide that information, if I need to, in my application? Will this put a huge giant unfix able wrench in my application?

My relationship timeline, like most other's, is air right and I can account for every length of time we've been together, this will be the last thing I need to add and I'm worried how it might look to an officer.

you HAVE to put the right dates in your personal timeline. CIC isn't going to investigate whether you applied for an extension on time or not. Most likely they won't even make the connection you over stayed. Considering you were never formally charged with anything, and left on your own, then it doesn't matter. CIC and CBSA are different entities. You do not necessarily have to say you over stayed, just put the dates as they really happened. If you are currently admissible to canada, then that's all that matters. Previous hiccups with CBSA isn't going to affect your application.

Oh thank god, you have no idea how big of a relief that is. So for the date I left canada, I wouldn't put something like "overstayed and left on this date", I'd just put "left on this date"?

Are there any examples of timelines I could see to get an idea of the kind of details I should be providing next to the dates?

exactly. i can't see how not stating "I overstayed" can get you into trouble, as long as you are honest with the dates. I don't think that classifies as hiding info or misrepresenting yourself. you are telling them i got to canada this day and left that day. If the lenght of time seems odd, they may will investigate whether CBSA had any issues with you. An officer may not even care. Technically, i think visitors who have overstayed have 90 days to reinstate their status, so the fact you left on your own is a good thing. Even if they find out you over stayed, it won't affect the application because you are no longer out of status in canada. I was refused entry on an exclusion order, and no problem so far. I just got my passport request.

That is such a huge relief, thank you so much. I literally had NOTHING really big to worry about except for this, and it was eating me up inside. My partner and I have been together for 7 years, so I'm not worried about proving our relationship is genuine or anything like that, I was only worried that I would be seen as some sort of trouble maker because of my overstay and instantly denied. Since our ENTIRE future together is riding on these papers, I'm sure you understand how sick it made me feel x_x

yep. hello! i was BANNED from canada for a year! if having an exclusion order and being red flagged on my CBSA record doesn't cause issue, i can't see how your situation would. The fact a PR application has been submitted means you know and are following the rules. That is what CIC cares about.

Super awesome fantastic, also really sorry for your ban! That must have sucked.

So on the last date I'll just put that I left and for what reason (sudden dwindling health of a loved one, which is why we decided to go outland so I could take care of them while we waited on paperwork), that sound like it'd be okay? I didn't think it'd sound right if I just put "left canada" on the date. I'm sure they want at least a short reason why?

sure. whatever the reason was, put it. i don't think it matters WHY if you are technically a visitor.
